Dear Furbabies,

To all 4 of you:
You all know that I have been very sad lately.  I think you have some idea what is happening, but I need to explain more.  I will have to go into Assisted Living soon.  I'll be getting a lot more help to make it easier for me to function, but I can only bring one of you with me.  I'm going to try to see if they will let me bring 2 of you, but that is a bit doubtful.  At first, I was thinking that you, Abby, would be the one to keep since you are the oldest and I have had you so long; besides that you are scared of all other humans.  But then, I got to thinking that you, Gwim, are scared of everyone too and you would have a hard time adjusting elsewhere.  Then, Pero and Mama, I realized that both of you have bonded so well with me and give me a lot of cuddling which I really need.  The more I thought about it, the harder it got to decide who stays and who goes. 

I did try to contact the Maine Coon rescue near here, but haven't got a response back from them yet.  Since I don't have a lot of time (even though I don't know just how soon), I need to work on finding good homes for you guys.  Not just any home; let me assure you that I will be sure that any new human in your lives is going to love you like I do, that they will keep you indoors only, and they will give you time to adjust.  So, as much as I hated to, I put ads on Craigslist for you guys.  I posted separate ads, so I can ask the right questions to whoever thinks they want just one of you.  Maybe by doing it this way, the decision will not have to be mine as to who to keep, since whoever is not adopted would be the one I keep.  I do not like doing it this way!  I just don't know any other way to make the decision. 

I sooo much wish I could keep all of you guys.  this is breaking my heart.  now you know why I have been crying and giving all of you extra lovings.

If any of you cat lovers live near Phoenix AZ or know someone who does who would be willing to adopt 1 or more of my furbabies, please let me know.  (Abby = 10 year old tortie,  Gwim = 2.5 year old black panther,  Pero = 2=3 year old Maine Coon,  Mama = 1.5 year old Maine Coon)

I'm afraid I can't help get any of your kitties adopted, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am to read this. It breaks my heart just thinking about what you have to go through. I couldn't imagine having to choose between my three babies :(

I really wish I could help you, but I'm in Atlanta and I don't know anyone in Phoenix. I hope the people you find to adopt them will be as kind and loving as you have been. {{hug}}

Maybe someone else in the new place is looking to adopt a friend? Then you could still visit them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you.

i would like to hope so, but i'm afraid many of the residents either already have their one pet or are not really able to take care of one. also, i probably won't meet any of them until after i move, and i have to find new kitty homes before then.

aaah, I wish I was closer, I'm looking for a Maine Coon buddy for my orange tabby hermf ... I hope you are successful in finding a home for your buddies ... and I do wish places like colleges and assisted livings would be more flexible about pets. :P

I can't personally help, but I did send this to a friend of mine who lives in Arizona. She has one maine coon and also volunteers at a local shelter. So even if she didn't take one of your kitties herself, she may be able to help you regardless. If she asks for contact information, I'll be in touch again. Best of luck.

I'm so sorry you have to give up some of your babies. Wish I could help, but I'm in Minnesota and already at my landlord's 2 cat limit. Best of luck to you, though!

I hope you find good homes for them that will allow you visitations. If I could, I would help but I don't know anyone in Phoenix. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Have your doctor speak to the assisted living place and see if you can have them as a sort of service animal. I think it would be disasterous for your mental health to give a way your kitties and you should try anything to keep that from happening.

also talk to your vet to see if he or she can help.

I will be allowed to keep one of my cats, so at least that helps some, but since there are 4 of them, I am faced with finding new homes for 3 furbabies soon.

I am so so sorry that you have to give up your furbabies. I so wish I could help you, but unfortunately I live in Massachusetts, and I have 7 cats. I would so love to have another Maine Coon. They are such sweeties. I wish you luck in finding them forever homes ♥

I wish i would have known this thursday!!! I live in tucson,az and i was looking for a kitty. I went through a horrendous ordeal with one kitty and then had to give him back to the shelter. the shelter let me get another kitty though, and so far she is adjusting pretty well.

What a horrible choice to have to face. I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers, that you find all the loving homes you need for your fur-babies.
